    Acara ini sudah mencapai vol.57 dan bisa dibilang sebagai seri gigs paling konsisten di Indonesia. Kali di daftar line up ada Tropical Thrust, The Porno dan Seaside, namun sayangnya saya tertinggal penampilan Tropical Thrust.

    The Porno malam ini tampil intens dan seru dengan line up terbarunya setelah ditinggal vokalisnya. Terus terang sebelumnya rada gatel dengerin ke-curtis-curtisan band ini, tapi sekarang jadi lebih berasa karakternya yang lebih solid. Mantep.

    Seaside malam ini juga keren sih maennya, saya pun membeli satu buah CD mereka buat cadangan kali-kali suatu waktu CD nya yang satu lagi rusak. Band dreampop ini bisa dibilang favorite terbaru saya discene indie Jakarta. asoi.

    Hari minggu kemarin saya menyempatkan diri menghampiri acara bulanan Superbad di Jaya Pub untuk melepas kebosanan rutinitas pekerjaan. Sekaligus rada-rada penasaran menyaksikan Dear Frontier (yang sebelumnya terpaksa melewatkan penampilan di Kedai, karena rasa lelah berlebih dan lokasi yang jauh sekali).
    Saya berusaha datang lebih cepat supaya bisa mendapatkan spot yang bagus untuk menonton, karena saya ingin mengabadikan acara ini juga karena saya bukan tipe fotografer yang mampu jungkir balik nungging-nungging demi mendapatkan angle yang asoi. Sudut pandang tegak lurus sudah cukup untuk saya, minimal untuk hari itu.
    Penampilan pertama Gribs, yang perjalanan waktu dan asam garam panggung rupanya membuat penampilan mereka semakin hari semakin asoi dalam membawakan lagu-lagu rock gondrongnya.

    Dilanjutkan dengan Dear Frontier yang rupanya si drummer memiliki darah padang (pantesan rada mirip sama teman yang orang Padang juga). Lagu-lagunya enak, sehingga sayang sekali mereka tidak membawa CD untuk dibeli.

    Selanjutnya Morfem yang mempromosikan download gratisan mereka dengan membawakan beberapa lagu Velvet Underground dan tentu saja lagu mereka sendiri.

    Malam itu ditutup dengan Tika and the Dissidents yang ramai dan seru.

    “JAZZ ON SUNDAY”#01

    In the ’80s, a little brown bar called The Jaya Pub embarked on a jazz event that was held on Sundays and named it ‘JAZZ ON SUNDAY’. Little did they know that years later, the event would be described as “legendary” by local jazz musicians and lovers. This is probably justified by the number of local jazz heavy-weights and legends that have performed or even started their musical career there, plus it’s contribution in the developments of jazz in Indonesia. Names like Jack Lesmana, Jopie Item Combo, Rully Johan, Abadi Soesman, Ireng and Kiboud Maulana, Margie Segers, Ermy Kulit, Vonny Sumlang, Victor Rompas, and many more; were normally seen and heard at the event.     Now, as a tribute to local jazz movement, past and present, as well as a salute to the legendary event; ‘The Secret Agents’ is bringing ‘JAZZ ON SUNDAY’ back to life (and back at The Jaya Pub) with the help of ‘Beyond Production’, their jazzy friends in the local jazz circle!
    Therefore, this Sunday 10th July 2011, we invite you all to celebrate the rebirth of ‘JAZZ ON SUNDAY’, the first of hopefully many… A monthly live music performances by musicians or bands, with jazz as their chosen genre (as well as inspired or influenced by jazz). This will be an event where you can enjoy jazz, whether you like it or not 🙂 because it’s gonna be awesome! Enjoy jazz The Jaya Pub way… It’s a jazzy “SUPERBAD!”, folks!

    Since there are some dazzling and surviving independent record labels around, that have become our friends, we have decided to do a RECORD LABEL EDITION once every blue moon.
    It’s oh sooo good that these record labels are still growing strong; releasing works from some of the most talented, awesome, and promising local musicians / bands. Some have even performed at our little stage.
    For the first edition, we’ve invited our friends from Fast Forward Records (Bandung) to showcase the bands under their label.
    Fast Forward has become a pioneer in the local indie scene since they began in early 2000. They have successfully toss the musical journey of Mocca and The S.I.G.I.T up in the air of the international indie music world.
    Since Mocca and The S.I.G.I.T both have performed at “SUPERBAD!”, Fast Forward will be showcasing four of their roosters on this occasion.
