We all have to agree by now that Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is one of the best albums of 2009. One and half year later, when everybody thought the hype of the album had died down, these Frenchmen made sure that it didn’t. Just a while ago Phoenix announced that they would be posting an in-studio, behind-the-scene documentary about the making of the album. The documentary is broken down into nine parts, one part for each track on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This documentary will let you get an inside look on how the triumphant album was made, be complete with commentary by the band themselves and producer Phillipe Zdar. And, even though they did the commentary in French, it got subtitles so you wouldn’t miss a single word.

We’ve been taking pictures of secret places everywhere. From places we’ve visited, physically and imaginary. We share our secret places through photographs and stories. The story could be true, but it could be fiction or just a dream. – The Secret Agents
The Secret Agents is Indra Ameng and Keke Tumbuan, two young artists who actively explore the medium of music, photography and video. For me collaboration Indra Ameng and Keke Tumbuan in The Secret Agents is not just an art project with the final results of an exhibition at the gallery.
Superbad, is one of the many art projects that they both make. Superbad is a regular monthly music event held at the Jaya Pub, Jakarta, exciting music events with the concept of inviting emerging bands with rich musical quality.The uniqueness of their collaboration both in The Secret Agent is a balanced blend between the presence of a variety of mediums, from early music has become the foundation of this project, then video, photography and art itself. The most interesting was when they were invited to participate in the Jakarta Biennale 2009, an international event with the theme of interaction between art and the problems of the city, where they both make a work titled “The Secret Lobby.” This work presents the new spatial experience for the audiences. They are both turning a room into a secret place where visitors can spy on each other.

Vienna Vegetable Orchestra
The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra has been playing anything you can buy at your local farmer’s market and has even released a couple of albums since 1998. The Austrian alt-music getup performs music solely on instruments made of vegetables. Using carrot flutes, pumpkin basses, leek violins, leek-zucchini-vibrators, cucumberophones and celery bongos, the orchestra creates its own extraordinary and vegetabile sound universe. The ensemble overcomes preserved and marinated sound conceptions or tirelessly re-stewed listening habits, putting its focus on expanding the variety of vegetable instruments, developing novel musical ideas and exploring fresh vegetable sound gardens.
Based in Vienna, the Vegetable Orchestra plays concerts in all over the world. There are no musical boundaries for the Vegetable Orchestra. The most diverse music styles fuse here – contemporary music, beat-oriented House tracks, experimental Electronic, Free Jazz, Noise, Dub, Clicks’n’Cuts – the musical scope of the ensemble expands consistently, and recently developed vegetable instruments and their inherent sounds often determine the direction. Worldwide one of a kind, and going green, literally.

False Print-Of Montreal
As music spirals outwards towards infinity in a bazillion divergent directions, interesting pit stops along the way provide amazing vantage points.
Of Montreal’s trajectory corkscrewed out from the imaginative, visionary Elephant 6 collective (responsible for Neutral Milk Hotel’s lo-fi classic In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, plus Apples In Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, and heaps more). A bout of depression resulted in 2007’s Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?, a pop masterpiece wherein Kevin Barnes added introspective vulnerability, nihilistic rage, and hilariously frank lyrics to his fantastical glam mythology.
This is how we arrive at a strange and awesome vantage point like False Priest. You might find the theatricality, ever-shifting genres, or Kevin’s falsetto off-putting (think Ariel Pink, a camp School House Rock, or Beck’s Midnite Vultures) but that would be a shame.
False Priest is fun, celebratory, and expertly crafted. As Kevin’s characters and musicality get weirder and wilder, his constant return to the everyday mundane brings up the hilarity of modern life. After the overly complicated Skeletal Lamping, False Priest is a return to form.
I was ready to adore this slut-shaming comedy in which Emma Stone fake-loses her virginity and gains a real-bad reputation stoked by fundamentalist Christian classmate Amanda Bynes. I had it pegged as ‘Smart Trash’, like Legally Blonde or Mean Girls. Instead, it’s ‘Smart Trash That Didn’t Study For The Exam And Severely Disappointed Its Favorite Teacher’.

Sleep Party People
Adalah Brian Batz, seorang bedroom musician asal Copenhagen, yang bertanggung jawab atas hadirnya Sleep Party People ini. Berbekal drum machine tua, gitar dan piano, dia berhasil mewujudkan nuansa yang sangat menghipnotis ketika mendengarkan track-track yang ada di album self-titled.
Sulit untuk percaya bahwa satu orang saja dapat menghasilkan sound yang unik seperti ini. Sekilas terdengar seperti My Bloody Valentine dan Cocteau Twins yang terlalu banyak mengkonsumsi acid saat mereka sedang nge-jam bersama dalam satu kamar tidur yang sempit.
Satu hal lagi yang sangat menarik dari Sleep Party People. Penampilan mereka saat live performance sangat menarik. Brian Batz dibantu oleh teman-temannya, yang disebut dengan Live Bunnies, 5 orang yang memainkan berbagai macam alat musik dan ambience. Hal ini sendiri membuat sound yang dihasilkan saat mereka melakukan live performance menjadi lebih `lebar dan luas`. Jauh dari kesan tipikal bedroom musician yang biasanya saat live terkesan statis.
