hohoho dari membaca interview diatas yang menyenangkan itu, mungkin kalian sudah bisa merasakan hype rock n roll Speaker 1st ini. Sampai jumpa di panggung yeah?

Mungkin ga banyak dari kamu yang tau atau mengenal Daniel Johnston, tapi banyak musisi besar terutama dari jalur alternatif atau post-rock/lo-fi etc. yang mendapat inspirasi dari orang ini. Bahkan dia sudah memiliki sebuah album tribute to Daniel Johnston dengan Beck, Death Cab for Cutie, Mercury Rev sebagai pengisi nya? maka itu ga salah kalau kamu mulai browsing Daniel Johnston sekarang to discover a new experience I music if you haven?t heard of him before. how is Daniel Johnston now?
Daniel Johnston is doing pretty good now. All right, I guess. I?m doing all right.

many band have copied your music or mention you as their influence and achieve a more comercially breakthrought in the music industry, what would you say about that? and how does it affect your music ?
Well, that?s fine with me [copy or mention me]. I don?t really know completely what all my musical influence is, and I suppose it?s the same with everyone else. All the music you?re exposed to influences what you do in your music. I don?t know how to answer ?how? all that works. But it is there, the influence of everything you?ve heard.

what is an honest music? for you?
Well, you know, I don?t really ?make up? songs as much as I write songs about my life. That?s really what I?ve always done, write about what I?m feeling and thinking at the moment. I guess is you make it up, that?s not honest. Maybe it?s not honest if it isn?t what you really feel.

What have you been listening to/reading/watching? Is there any particular type of art that has interest you lately?
Well, ?everything is art?, you know. I used to say that, and what I mean is that if you have it in you, you see everything that happens as art ? of sorts. But you have to ?read? into what you?re looking at and get it. That is , what about any thing that appeals to you or makes you ?stop and look?.

But I know what your asking. I listen to old records and CDs mostly. I really don?t follow the music scene these days. The bands I know personally I listen to of course. I?m always collecting old albums from the 60?s and 70?s mostly. I also listen to things people send me, and believe me, I get all kinds of music. Some of it doesn?t even qualify for ?alternate? rock ? it?s something else.

I?ve been listening to a lot of Christmas music lately. I was thinking about doing a Christmas album and so I?ve been listening to a lot of Christmas music.

do you discover any good new band lately? plz write some short review about them.
Oh. Wow! I don?t know. I?m not really the person to write a review about another a band. Like I said, I really don?t feel close enough to the music scene today ? I mean, what?s popular from day to day. When I hear a good song, though, I know it. I just ?clicks? with you, and you know it?s good. It?s not something I understand myself. You just trust your intuition and your reaction.

I don?t really follow all the bands out today very closely. Usually, it?s someone recommending a band to me. I don?t know if I could recommend one because I haven?t heard them all.

what is inside your music?
Inside? I always have something to write about because there is always things happening. And the music is what was in me at the time. So, yeah, the music is really is outside of ME, and showing what is inside me.. I just put my life to song.

recomend your best song ever wrote. and please tell us the story behind it. and please tell us about your worst song.
Grievances, I think, is the best one I wrote. Worse? All the others are ?worse? than grievance.s [laughs]

what is other musician best songs? and how it affect you.
Well, of course, I love the Beatles most. They?re my favorite. I have many favorites. All the greats, you know, those that are considered great ? they?re pretty much what I listen to.

there is a never ending debate about piracy and free music share. how is your opinion?
Well. I don?t know. I buy bootlegs all the time, you know ? the Beatles. Once someone hits the big time, there is bound to be bootlegs.

Oh ? like on the internet? I don?t know how that works, but yeah, I?ve heard about it. I don?t understand it, though. They?re sharing music? Hmmm. I?d like to get some!

how about and indonesian tour?
I don?t know about that. That sounds like a long way from home! I really don?t like to travel. I do when I have to, I guess. But I really just as well stay home and write and draw all the time.

Hmmm kalau belum pernah mendengar musik mereka ada bagus nya mencoba band Indie Pop swedia ini yang juga memiliki label Labrador Records dan bagaimana kenyataan bahwa Johan suka mendengarkan Mocca.. yeah Mocca band local Indonesia itu,.. Now try to read these short interview with Joakim and Johan from Acid House Kings. By Eric Wiryanata July 2004

why “acid house kings”?
Joakim: Because we didn?t want a standard-cute-name like many of the band in late 80.s, early 90: s. We thought Acid House Kings were much cooler than the Springfields for example.
Johan: Yes, everyone was called Summer-this or Poppy-that at that time and it was quite boring. I think the name is partly taken from the Biff! Bang! Pow! album “The Acid house album” or something like that.

you have such a poetic sense in all of your songs, how do you get all the inspiration to write words for your songs?
Joakim: From other groups, books, films etc
Johan: From life.

you have finished your first 10 years plan. tell us about your next ten years plan… where would AHK be in the next ten years?
Joakim: We working on a plan right now.
Johan:… and it’s not including world domination. It does include a new album before 2004 is over though.

i read that you put “sabbath bloody sabbath” as one of your fave albums. how Black Sabbath influencing you?
Joakim: I didn?t say that.
Johan: It’s was one of my five fave albums of a certain short period. It’s not like an all time favourite or something like that. I’ve discovered that rock music can actually be good lately. It’s influenced me a little when I write music. But not when I write for AHK cause the others don’t really like riffs.

tell us about you, why you choose to have a music career. ?
Joakim: I don?t think Acid House Kings have a music career. We have never earned any money from it. All members have other careers besides the band.
Johan: I chose to work with music because it’s the most pleasureable thing I know. But as Joakim says, Acid House Kings is not a music career, I work with the Labrador label and other bands. Someday I hope I’ll find out something else to do, but for now this will have to do.

and what is the biggest inspiration to form “acid house kings”?
Joakim: A major interested in music. If you are young and deeply interested in music I think it?s very easy to pick up a guitar and form a band.

why not do a major label deal? remembering that you have a big fan base, even in Indonesia that is far from your country?
Joakim: Since we have our own label, Labrador we don?t aim for a major record deal. We are happy with Labrador.
Johan: I think it’d become too serious and take the enjoyment out of writing songs. Too much strain.

the best tips for a band that choose to have an indie career?
Johan: Write good songs and develop a unique sound. Or at least a sound which too common. Send your music to the labels you like yourself.

have you heard about Indonesian local indie pop scene? what about a tour to Indonesia?
Joakim: I have never heard a band from Indonesia neither about the local indie pop scene.
Johan: I’ve just heard a few things. I really like Mocca.

Homogenic sering disebut sebagai pengekor Bjork. opini kalian sendiri?
wah bangga sekali kalo disamakan ama bjork,berarti kita hebat ya, adorer by everybody!! haha. sebenarnya ga ngekor2 amat, itu mungkin hanya euphoria massa orang2 yang belum tau musik homogenic dan menilainya hanya dari nama homogenic itu sendiri. mbak bjork itu out of reach banget lah.. gak mungkin kita ekor-ekorin…

gue sering dengar kritik. kalau penampilan kalian kurang hidup. karena hanya menggunakan peralatan elektronik. bagi kalian sendiri bagaimana?
ya itu hak mereka yang mau mengkritik, tapi itulah homogenic! mungkin suatu saat nanti di
waktu dan tempat yang pas kami akan melakukan beberapa inovasi sebagai jawaban dari kritikan2 tsb, tapi kami tdk akan pernah merubah image dan trade mark yang ada. tunggu saja nanti..

kiat kiat kalian dalam membentuk sebuah band dan mempertahankannya?
betul2 memikirkan konsep band itu sendiri, setelah itu mempelajari konsep itu baik..buatlah agar kita yang tau segalanya ttg konsep tsb! carilah orang2 yang betul ahli di bidangnya dan sekonsep juga satu visi sama kamu…untuk mempertahankannya tetaplah menjalin kerjasama yang baik!

musik trip hop model homogenic kan tidak terlalu ‘in’ di zaman yang sedang demam emo, punk atau garage rock. alasan khusus dalam hal ini?
ga ada..memang kita bukan orang2 yang in fashion..haha..eh kata siapa ga in?? tunggu deh bentar lagi..pasti menjamurr, indonesia lah tau sendiri

if possible. who will be collaborating with Homogenic?
beberapa pemusik kesenian daerah … liat aja nanti 😉 masih kejutan

how is Homogenic lifestyle?
hmm, sama aja kaya yang lain. kuliah,pacaran,buka friendster,jalan2 ke mall, nonton bioskop,pergi malam mingguan,nongkrong, biasa ajalah.

apa aja proses yang biasa dilakukan dalam penciptaan sebuah lagu?
dina:melamun, duduk manis di depan komputer dan keyboard, secangkir teh manis panas, aromatherapy lavender, beberapa kamus bahasa inggris dan indonesia, jadi. trus transfer via email ke dea. briefing.. tunjukin ke rissa buat masukin vokal

tell us about your upcoming album> (albumnya udah keluar, -ed)
more simple but sophisticated. (semoga!)

bagus untuk band (jadi terkenal..hahaha) tapi neraka buat label
ps: kebetulan band bukan prioritas kami buat nyari duit. laku syukur, nggak ya apa boleh buat… yang penting idealisme kita tersalurkan, dan kita enjoy membawakan lagu2 kita sendiri.
